Heba's mökki- 3 hours north

Before this, I was unable, or rather, unwilling to travel anywhere very far in Finland due to expensive train fares. 80 Euros just to travel 3 hours north? 160 Euros to travel 6 hours north? For nearly the same price, I could get a one-way ticket to some exotic place in southern Europe. BUT, when you are able to get free rides with truckers..it's a completely different story. And that's exactly what I did. For the first time in my life, I was at eye-level with other truckers. I rode in a big semi, in a pretty metallic blue, right to Jyväskylä. And I was able to see more of Finland on the way. The incredible thing was..when we left Helsinki the sun was starting to set. The farther north we drove, the sun continued setting and by the time we reached Jyväskylä at 1 30 AM, the sun still never fully set. It just sort of dipped low and rose again. Truly the land of of the midnight sun.

The weekend at Heba's mökki (cottage) was wonderful. Sauna and swimming, cooking over the fire, rowing, and watching the sunset never complete itself but turn into a sunrise. =D
