We finally got out of Newcastle, semi-repaired and ready to be on the road again. It just so happened to be my 20th birthday and my wish was to get out of the city, mission accomplished. We rode maybe 18 miles before reaching Whitley Bay and the North Sea - heck yea; it was a great birthday present. Tony ninja'd his way into the Tynemouth Priory and Castle and took some pretty good photos. We slept under the stars, the last time we were able to do that in Scotland, and listened to the sound of the waves.

Sunrise woke us and we quickly packed up and headed towards the bike path. We took a short detour to see St. Mary's Lighthouse that turned into one of Tony's international model shoots. I stood back, talking to the crew and sipping hot English tea as Tony ran 15 takes of a commercial and an extensive photo shoot for the Tourism Board of Northeast England.

We rode off, still laughing in disbelief and happy to be back on the road. We biked to Warwick Castle, Alnwick Castle and passed the film crew as we headed to our to-be campsite in the shadow of Dunstanburgh Castle along the coast near a town called Craster. It was a good 50-mile day of we slept well guarded by the settling fog and a night full of rain.

We woke in the morning to fog and a flat on Tyger's front tire and made our way to Craster which turned out to be a village full of summer homes. We stopped at the first house where people peeked out their curtains at us walking past and enjoyed a good breakfast and kind conversation with a couple from the Lake District. Unfortunately they had no tools to speak of, but lucky for us a garden crew not a block down the road had tools and wanted to help us out. We fixed the flat and headed forward towards Holy Island and Berwick.
