Adventure in Ayia Napa

Sunday July 31st 2005, and here I am in Ayia Napa. Temperature looks set to be absolutely fantastic, when we landed at about 05:45, the Captain announced that the temperature was about 32 degrees, and the guide on the bus said that recently temperatures had been reaching 37, and on one occasion has even touched 41.

Whilst I have been to Cyprus on 2 previous occasions (1973 & 1974), I have never been to Ayia Napa, and not as a civilian.

Yes that is correct, my previous encounters in Cyprus were as a serviceman in the British Army, and I was in Dhekelia & Troodos Mountains respectively. Wonderful times, but as always with the forces never enough time to see the wonders of the areas visited.

Mind that can also be said for visiting as a civilian on holiday. Generally holidays are 2 weeks, again not leaving enough time to see everything that is available.

Nevermind, it just means that I have to return to this area again to be able to complete the picture, metaphorically speaking.

So Sunday being the first day, I arrived at the hotel early morning (about 08:30), and once I was booked in I was informed that breakfast was on until 10 am. So up to the room (fourth floor as well, ouch!, lucky there is a lift), changed into shorts, sleeveless vest and sandals, what a sight, but then I don't care and those of you who are looking must be curious or else you would not be looking (haha).

After breakfast, I waited around the reception area for a while to see the rep. that was supposed to come and welcome me (haha what a joke), no sign of her today, so taking the proverbial plunge, I set of to look around the area that was to be home for the next 2 weeks.
