Flight lasted 10 hours, australia is so,um... big. The feeling of disembarking in Bangkok is unique and it surprises me every time. the air is, well, solid. its like walking into a wall of smells and sweat and noise and activity that is absolutely foreign. its exciting. the crazy (and long) drive into bangkok proper did not have to be endured this time, cos the hotel we were at was quite close to the airport. from the swimming pool on top you could make out planes landing through the incredible smog. huge thai style breakfast was great. very jetlagged of course, slept until about 2pm, then sat in the pool. if you sit still you start to feel really grimy from all the dust and crap landing on you, mixed with the constant sweating. then explored the giant electronics mall under the hotel.
