A nice surprise!

They have been making changes to the trip journal, sorry for the hassels that this has caused. This is the 3rd time I've tried to write this, each time it keeps getting shorter as my patience wears thin. I don't know what happened to the nice map of the world, to bad I liked it.\r

Flying into Columbia was a process that took much deliberation. If I was alone, I am more likely to take risks, but traveling with a companion had me hesitant. Our 4 day exploratory trip was charming, Colombians are very hospitable people, who have a great deal of pride of there country.\r

I was really impressed by how green it was, a Pacific Northwest type of green, that I have always been attracted to.\r

We spent an afternoon with a servas host who entertained us at her mothers home, it was such a treat to step into the everyday lives of people and have the chance to learn about what they think and how they feel about things. \r

I left Columbia wishing I had planned more time, wishing I had traveled overland. These will come another day, because the pull to go south was to strong.\r

Right before leaving Columbia I started an illness that would follow me into Ecuador, I don't like being sick, it zaps my passion for moving and meeting people. It might be a sign that the time to come home will be sooner then planned.
