We left Asia and headed for Europe.  Our first stop was Athens Greece to meet up with Erik(my B-in-Law) and his girlfriend Liz. We of course went to see the Accropolis and some of the ruins.  Greece has really cleaned up since the last time I was here (pre-olympics).  It is just a little bit nicer not as dodgey.  Anyway after having our share of Gyros we headed out to the Greek Island of Mykonos.

On the ferry to Mykonos we meet 2 friends, Sam and Phil, Aussie who live in England, heading to meet a big group of other friends for their 30th birthdays.  We ended up running in to them that night in town and then again in Santorini which was a lot of fun to be hanging out with our big group.

It was packed wall to wall with people screaming "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oye, oye, oye!"

Anyway their isn´t a lot to say about Mykonos basically we sat on the beach all day, had dinner in town and then went out at night, rinse and repeat.  It´s a difficult life, but someone has to do it.  The best (and cheapest 2 Euro) food in Greece is the greek salad and the Gyro, which we eat everyday.  Needless to say we had enough gyros to last a lifetime, or at least until we get back to Greece.

Santorini is just as beautiful as Mykonos.  It has a cute town over looking the water.  It really is paradise.  In Santorni all the beaches are different. There is a red beach a black beach and a White beach.  The best is white beach which you can only get there by boat (but isn´t that life the very best places can only be reached by boat).  Anyway it is white because of the cliff behind it and some white rocks on the beach, but in the water the sand is a blackish gray.  It is really beautiful because you can walk out about 200 meters (yards) to a big rock. and you are waist high in water the whole time.  So it is a great place to swim.

Now the highlight of this Island, besides the beaches and the beautiful views.  Was Murphy´s Pub in town on Friday night.  In town we ran in to the Aussies again. After dinner with them we all went to watch the Aussie soccer game in Murphy´s Pub.  It was packed wall to wall with people screaming "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oye, oye, oye!"  It was really great game and of couse the Aussies won so it was a really fun evening.

The next day we headed back to Athens for one last Gyro and now off to Naples.

Hey! My boyfriend and I are headed out to Greece in a few weeks and we are planning on hitting the same islands. How'd you guys travel between Athens and the islands? Do we need to book in advance or is it easy to just fugure it out when we get there?
