Hello

I havent filled this in for a while. I thought I would just put in a couple of entries b4 I forgot wot Ive done.

someone was gonna come out branishing a machette

Ive crossed the border into Laos, we decided to take the bus and slow boat which took 3 days in total. The other option was the speed boat but as someone dies on that every week we thought not!

I left from Chiang Chong and cross the border it was a bit odd caus all we had to do was go across the river then we were in a different country, it took us about 2 minutes to cross. We then had to line up at "passport control" then had over visa's checked then had to que up to get our Kip as they only have 1 Atm in Laos!

We spent our first nite in Pakbeng and I dont think ive been in a flither place. I saw more werid bugs and flyie things than in the jungle.

The town has got a limited supply of electricity so everthing gets turned of at 10:30 (every thing - no lights no air con).

When we booked into our guest house the guy came in sat on our bed and asked what we wanted for breakfast and our packed lunch for the next day - ticking of his little sheet. He then asked if we wanted hash or opuim!? Just like asking if we wanted tea or coffee!

We decide to go to the guest house next door to ours as there was more seating for us all to sit back and have a beer, we then ended up getting locked in. We went down stairs just after 12 to find the doors padlocked shut we then tried to  find a way out the back using candles and flash lights, it was so creepy we really though someone was gonna come out branishing a machette, so u can image what we were like when one of the doors really slowly and creaking opened behind us, even the men jumped.

Just to add to the freak factor when we finally to bed we had a some laos bloke knocking on out window saying "opuim" "opuim" - not impressed!

Thankfull we headed out the next day to Lang Probang.
