Friday 28th July

Back to Tallinn

What a pleasure to sleep in late today. The hostel had kept our "funky dorm" beds for us and now we had to try and rescue our packs from the attic room where they had been stored for us. We were told to just go up, climb over the bodies on the floor (!) and grab them! Just in case you wonder, our belongings were safe as the "sleeping bodies" were the owners of the hostel. By 1pm we had only finished breakfast, having decided this is to be a laid back, chillout, planning day. We leave for Russia on Monday and need to have all our ducks in a row to eliminate possible hassles. the language experience is going to be fun!! Whoopee! Sitting in the cosy St Patricks pub we treated ourselves to a proper (and cheap) meal for a change. Whilst here, the occurrance of bumping into previously met travellers continued! Walking past the window came a German cycling couple who we had met on Saaremaa Island. They joined us for a quick drink before going on their way again.

Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July

Another few days to generally relax and get to know our fellow travellers better. It was raining for a change so was the perfect time to get up to date with this website. Wondering why it does not get done more frequently? Well, either it is too expensive at internet cafes, there is not enough time, there is a 30 minute time limit on the free access computers (in hostels) or else we are sitting in some remote area or national park with no computers at all! All these factors combined unfortunately contribute to being a few weeks behind so when we hit a main city where we know we will be for at least 4 or 5 days, I plan a marathon typing session at the cheapest cafe I can find!! Sorry folks, but that is the reality of it!! Adding pics has its own set of hassles (mostly time related), so as much as I would like to include some, you will have to bear with us and wait for when we return. I promise we will have a good old viewing session!!

Tomorrow night we leave for St Petersberg, so am not too sure exactly when I will have a chance to update this again. I will try in Moscow before we do our Trans Mongolian train. Once on the train we will be pretty much out of computer contact again until we reach Irkutsk south of Lake Baikal. Until then...... think of us battling with Russian cyrillic and drinking Vodka with the Russians...!
