The students and I met at the Musee D'Orsay today for a guided tour. The architecture and collection are both incredible. Jacqueline, our guide, was just back from holiday and seemed quite concerned that the students weren't engaged. I think they may be a little travel weary at this point...

On this visit to the D'Orsay, I spent more time in the decorative arts exhibits and in a special exhibition of the work of Jens Willumsen, a Dane who moved to the south of France in the late 19th century. His paintings remind me of Munch meets Van Gogh --- lots of Scandie angst with a crazy color palette. I loved it. I took a break for lunch and ate in the museum cafe. I sat between a table of Italians (and, of course ease-dropped) and a table of Minnesotans. I chatted with the latter for several minutes. It felt good.

Then, it was off to the Musee Rodin. Oh, have I mentioned that it's 90+ degrees and humid? This put no one in a good frame of mind (especially someone who is still working with a limited wardrobe due to luggage delivery delays...) The gardens at the museum are very peaceful but it was stiffling hot in the museum itself. The students have class tomorrow, but I am going to take the time to knock some heads together at Air France and shake my luggage out of them, one way or another.
