What I Liked, and Didn't Like, About China
From China 2006 in Beijing, China on Jul 23 '06
WHAT I LIKED ABOUT CHINA
Safety
Friendliness
Geographic and cultural diversity
Cleanliness
Gardens and Parks
Food
Cute children
Beautiful women
Chinese pride in their history and culture
China's confidence in its modernity
Lack of fundamentalist religions
Railroads
Inexpensive
China is much more open than I'd expected
Chinese people like to have fun
Per capita energy use still much lower than US
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT CHINA
Most of the pop music is pretty dopey, in my opinion.
Pervasiveness of smoking
Spitting (getting better, but still a problem)
Discrimination against and condescension toward ethnic minorities
Commercialism and materialism is just as much of a problem in China as it is in America.
Moden urban development is destroying old neighborhoods.
Drivers are rude and do not respect pedestrians
Littering (getting better but still a problem)
