Living in Hermosa Beach

Hermosa Beach was my place of residency for 6 months.  It was the first place I ever lived besides Delaware and quite a different atmosphere.  Hermosa is a small but beautiful suburb located 20 minutes south of LAX airport and directly on the ocean.  My home was at 8th and Monterey...exactly 2 blocks down to the beach and 2 blocks over to the pier.  The beach is very expansive from street to water and the famous California sidewalk known as "The Strand" stretches throughout Hermosa.  With such mild weather, there is always plenty of activities taking place on the beach such as beach volleyball, flag football, frisbee, surfing, and yoga.  The Hermosa Pier offers several bar/restuarant places with excellent food and a beach atmosphere, one even has a rooftop dining area overlooking the beach and The Strand.  The major down side to Hermosa is that it doesn't have easy freeway access and PCH is usually really congested.
