I wish I could tell you that we totally carved up the waves in Raglan, one of the prime surfing areas of the world. We didn't. There were a few people who tested the waters with varying levels of success, but not Heather or I. Instead we used the night to just catch up on sleep (mostly Heather who was out by 8:00) and do some reading.

The place we stayed at was really cool. The best hostel yet. It was called Karioi Lodge and Outdoor Center. Kind of a hippy place, at least created under hippy ideals. The people who work there are kind of hippy-ish too. I'm sure there's a fair amount philospohizing about the legalization of all of God's creations (I'm referring to a specific plant here).

The lodge is located inside a rainforest so it's very foresty and rainy.

They had all sorts of cool outdoorsy things like a zip line (called a "flying fox" after the bats which live throughout the South Pacific of the same name), a ropes course and an outdoor sauna. We would have liked tohave checked these out (well, we did fly down the fox once), but as I've alreadymentioned, sleeping was more of a priority.
