The Third kind

As I have discovered with the mountains. When you come around a curve you can see the most wonderful things and when we rounded a curve and there in the midst of my veiw was Devil's Tower, I couldn't help but gasp. This monstrous thing was so beautiful. I was so excited to be taking my husband to see this. He'd always wanted to see this up close. Especially after seeing, Close Encounters of the third kind.
We paid our entrance fee and drove up to the base of this ancient volcano and stood in awe at the beauty of it. The colors in the rock were so magnificent and it is a sad thing that the camera wouldn't pick up what we were seeing.

The most popular story behind this monument is displayed everywhere in the little gift shop. You can hike up to it and they say even climb it, but we were content to read about it and see it and just stare awhile. It trully was an amazing thing to see and I am glad we took the time to drive up to see it.
