Our day started with a 7am wake-up call—much too early for vacation. Once we made our way to the breakfast that is included with our room, we realized what we had missed the previous day and thought the early rise was well worth it. Super-yummy food, and lots of it!

After breakfast we headed out for our day tour of the Dingle Peninsula. Our first stop en route was Kerry Woolen Mills, a place we discovered from a little sign by the road. We followed some windy, back-country roads for about 5 minutes before we came across the mills, which looked and smelled like a farm. The shop was as cold as a freezer, which provided plenty of incentive to buy the beautiful, well-made sweaters, scarves and blankets they had for sale. We'll need another bag to get it all home!

Moving on, we passed through Killorglin, which we didn't like at all. People weren't very friendly there, and there was a lot of construction going on, but we did get our daily Guinness picture there. Our next major stop was at the Fahan archaeological group, which is a cluster of very old stone beehive huts. It took a trek up a rather steep hill to get to them, but it was worth it.

At another stop, we encountered some very aggressive sea gulls that ran up to the car like they were expecting food... and they got it, because Rachel's a total sucker for animals. It was a good way to get rid of the nasty excuse for BBQ chips they have here - they swallowed two bags whole! We also came upon many adorable sheep, including one that decided the side of the road was a good place to eat. There were also a zillion completely adorable lambs, and some of them were friendly enough to carry on while I took their photos... on the side of the road. No accidents and swerving cars the whole day long, though Kathy seemed to think the car was destined to become airborne over the cliffs.

We'll be looking for some more mellow drives tomorrow as we head to Cork for the next two nights.
