April 17th: As I dropped my bike off at Bangtail Bike and Ski shop this morning to be boxed for the trip to SC, I chuckled at the ever-fickle Montana spring.  April really does deserve its reputation as being the crummiest month of the year in the Rockies.  All the snow and moisture we didn't get in January and February has shown up during April while the mercury holds in the 30s/40s.  Meanwhile, I spoke with my Uncle Richard in NC and he informed me that it was nearly 90 degrees this weekend on their end.  Well, I had very good intentions of riding my bike a lot this spring to get in shape for the trip.  But, in the end, I think I got out on the road maybe 6-8 times (including the week in Moab, UT for the kids spring break).  Let's hope Jen White's super duper spin class that the crew and I attended this winter at 5:30 am suffices to get me through Appalachia.
