Day 4

Overnight train trip to Xi'an. Shared with Rick and Kim again. We get on really well so are going to go out and see them in Adelaide which should be fun.

Day 5-6 Xi’an

Arrived in Xi'an at 6am and jumped onto a very floral bus to see the terracotta warriors. These were truly amazing. All but was destroyed by fire and destruction following an uprising by the locals. All the warriors in the photos (and there are loads!!) have been put back together by hand.

After spending the day mooching round, eating dodgy dumpling stews and doing not a lot, the evening was much more fun. We went to the Muslim quarter where we ate a street food meal (loads of ‘meat’ kebab stick and some bread that hadn’t been sweetened (a miracle over here where everything that should be savory is sweet). After that we went for some beers in the bar district and then to a club for a bit of a boogy. After about 10 minutes there and Terry and another guy having their bums grabbed several times, we realised that it was a gay club. Most amusing...

The next day consisted of a lie in till 12 (happy days- a luxury on this tour) and then mooching round again, getting bored (this wasn’t our favorite city). In the afternoon, we went to the train station to get an overnight trip to Yichang.
