So.....here I am, on the brink of new adventures in another destination & what a wonderful one it is too.

We (Liss & I) arrived in Granada on Thursday 28th, after having had very little sleep, with a hangover & after a 9hr bus trip which sounds pretty arduous. I must say, however, it was done in relative luxury with air conditioning & films being shown at regular intervals! The only real complaint being, that there was this awful stench (which got worse over the course of the journey) emanating from the toilet at the rear of the bus (where we were seated!).it truly was overpowering at times  & didn't really help us nursing our delicate heads !

Anyway....we arrived in one piece (after playing a waiting game at the Border) & then booked into the "Hostal Oasis" which was set in an old colonial building with 2 inner courtyards, with a pool located in one of them. We both felt incredibly hot, smelly & sweaty  after our strenuous (!?) journey, so, the first thing we did was to jump in & cool off !  I particularly noticed the difference in temperature between CR & here, after having spent the last 2 months in the mountains..phew, it really was stifling.

The town of Granada  itself is GORGEOUS ! Very old & run down in places, but the colonial  buildings really are so beautiful. Very reminiscent of parts of Cadiz in Spain. There is a nice feel to the place & we feel very safe here. One noticeable difference between here & CR, is that Nicaragua is definitely a much poorer country and yet the people seem to be so much more friendly & open. Obviously, these are my first impressions as I've only been here 3 days..but I have a good feeling about this place.

Liss & I are booked into a Spanish school, starting tomorrow & we are both really looking forward to it. Seems a good school & the teachers are really "simpatico" & professional, so it should be fun ! Today we are going to be placed with our host family, so I'll let you know how there are ! So far so good ! Will be writing again soon, but till then enjoy the photos & keep smiling & shining ! xxxx
