Another damp day. Plenty of showers, but it does dry up. However gale force winds are lashing the North.
After breakfast I headed off to find the sea. This involved crossing a field of "curious" cattle - bullocks to be precise! As soon as I entered the field they gathered around me, coming close enough to get a look before running away again. It was disconcerting to see this much beef gambling and frolicking within kicking distance of me. When I reach the far end of the field I decided to climb over the gate in case my entourage decided to come with me!

After 15 minutes I end up at the edge of the marsh where I found a bird hide. We hadn't known about it when we booked the trip, which was just as well as Mum sadly wouldn't be able to make it down. She's always been terrified of cattle. I still have a very vivid memory of her vaulting a five bar gate, when I was a child, to avoid a cow she had just spotted!
I wasn't at the hide very long before my brother appeared. Like me he wanted to see what was at the end of the footpath. Unlike me he isn't terribly interested in bird watching. He just thought I might like to know that everyone seemed to be planning a visit to Lindisfarne.

I joined Mum and Dad for the drive over to the island. It certainly doesn't take as long to drive across the causeway.
To be continued...
