Yes, we made it …. Back to where we started 2 months ago. We can almost stop moving now! It was just like coming home again – great to see Emily and Sam who very patiently sat through their parents’ droning though occasionally I did notice a glazed look in their eyes. Sadly for them they were working at different times so they had to endure our tales on their own as we didn’t see them together until Wednesday evening.

We had a very leisurely day with Emily while Sam was working and went to watch her play in a touch rugby match – just like the old days of standing in the pouring rain watching her play hockey at school. She hasn’t lost any of her enthusiasm …. And the weather hasn’t improved!

And now here we are in our house swap in Avoca Beach – a lovely seaside town  about an hour and a half’s drive north of Sydney.

It’s so nice to be able to unpack and sort through some of the things we’ve accumulated. Lynn (whose house we are in) collected us when we dropped the hire car off and was very polite as we crammed our (still unopened) body boards, sunshade, beach chairs, not to mention the carrier bags full of brochures etc. into her boot. She was so kind and showed us round her house, gave us lunch and then left. It's very strange to be waving a total stranger off from her own house! However, the house swap is a great idea and we would certainly do it again.  The house is lovely and she has left loads of leaflets and information about things we can do ... and a cupboard full of games!  I see a very busy Christmas working our way through them all!

Sam and Emily may come and join us here for the weekend depending on how they feel at the end of their working week. We have to keep reminding ourselves that other people are still working – we have really got used to this idea of a permanent holiday – even though Patrick does religiously check and reply to his office emails every day. In fact he has been working most of today as it has poured with rain all day.  Let’s hope the weather improves so we can go and see the beaches here – the tan has faded over the last couple of weeks with all the driving we’ve been doing so it needs touching up a bit.
