The ancient site of Pergamon is perched high up on a hill which still dominates over the modern day city of Bergama. The day we visited the site, an ancient Roman city with an impressive ampitheatre carved into the mountainside, the winds were so strong one could barely move and it was enough to blow you off your feet!
