I spent a day in Sapporo.  It was much colder then Tokyo, the sidewalks had snow and there were snow piles everywhere.

I was there a few weeks too early for the big snow sculpture show.  But, they were starting to build some of them while I was there.  They were HUGE and looked like they would be pretty amazing!  It would have been fun to seen that.

There are plenty of stores and restaurants to eat at.  The city is easy to get around on foot or using the public transportation systems.

You have to take about a 40 minute train ride from the airport to get into Sapporo.  It is a nice ride through the countryside.  It is nestled at the base of the mountains, close to the ski slopes.

The chocolate is really good from this area of Japan!  I was actually really surprised.
