Note to self (& others who rely solely on cell phones for the date & time), BUY A WATCH! I have no idea what time it is!! It's starting to make me nuts! They've served us a mini bag of pretzels & a soda. Then they handed out a wet wipe (wonder if it really had any germ killing ability). Now it looks like they are coming around with another drink service (they've also passed out a Japanese magazine & USA Today).
I SMELL DINNER!! Sure wish I knew what time it was. Sure wish someone next to me spoke English and/or was wearing a watch. What would happen if I turn on my Blackberry long enough to look at the time? Isn't there a way to disable the phone feature? Will it really cause the plane controls & instruments to freak out? What would happen, would we crash or just end up in Russia instead of Japan?
I LOVE OREOS!!!

DINNER!! Yum!!
I'm a genius!!! GENIUS I SAY!! When I took the picture of my dinner (we'll get back to that), it was like a light bulb went off in my head. My camera has the date & time on it. Did I mention that I'm a GENIUS? Just one more reason for me to love & cherish my Canon EOS Digital Rebel (thanks hubby).
So guess what. . . they DO still serve hot meals on airplanes. Sure, you have to fly around the world to get it! It was really good for airplane food. Chicken Terriyaki, white rice, carrots, 3 pc. shrimp cocktail, roll, lettuce salad & OREOs!!

My neighbor in 41B & I are starting to bond. Sure, he still has unidentified stuff in his hair & he keeps scratching his head & looking at his fingers. GROSS!!
Back to the bonding part . . . We had a choice of chicken or beef for dinner. I was sitting here thinking the majority of the palne would want to order chicken because it came with rice (the beef came with potatoes). So, me not really having a preference & figuring I'll be eating a lot of rice the next 6 days, I chose beef. 41B also chose beef.

Guess what . . . I got the last beef dinner! So neighbor got chicken. I felt bad, because I didn't really care which one I ate. I bravely turned to my Japanese neighbor and said, "Do you want my beef?" (don't laugh - get your minds out of the gutter). He looked at me, paused, looked at the food, looked back at me. I wasn't sure if he understood me. So, i made some sort of gesture with my hands that I thought would be symbolic of "trade" or "swap". He said, "Yes".

The chicken was wonderful. I ate all of it, except that I saved the Oreos for later. If you know me, you know that I LOVE OREOS!! So, I was still eating - I was only about 1/2 way thru. My neighbor was finished, piling his wrappers and napkin on his plate. then I spied his unopened pack of Oreos. NOOoo! Not Oreo abuse! I boldly said, "Excuse me, do you want the Oreos?"
While pointing to them, he said, "These?"
I said, "Yes." He gave them to me. I said, "Thank you!" And there was joy in the land of seats 41A & 41B. My good deed (trading) was rewarded!

We took a restroom break & settled in to watch a movie. 41B thanked me again for trading dinners, after which he started asking me general questions about myself, my trip, etc. & vice versa. (Note: I was wrong, he does speak a little English.)
For those of you that don't know, the flight goes over the U.S., north over Canada, then over Alaska. Eventually crossing the ocean and landing in Osaka. This journey takes 14 hours.
I watched most of the 1st movie (Leatherheads), but fell asleep before they started the 2nd movie (What Happens in Vegas. . . ). Sleeping on airplaines is not fun! One of the other reasons I like the window seat is so if I decide to sleep, I can lean on the window. Once the movies started, they dimmed the lights & everyone closes their window shade. At this point it's about 9 p.m. (EST) and I'm ready to crash. I doze in and out for a couple hours.

Sometime around midnight, they served ham & cheese sandwiches. I ate it and went back to sleep. I remember seeing Speed Racer on the big screen, but I slept thru it. At about 4 a.m.(EST) they started serviing breakfast.
Scrambled eggs w/ cheese, sausage links, fruit, blueberry muffin, potatoes & orange juice. GOOD STUFF! I wasn't really hungry, so I saved the muffin for later and ate what I could. We're over the country of Japan, but have about an hour to go. I'm trying to touch up my make-up. My contacts are dried to my eye-balls, but I'm digging for my eye-drops. After a quick trip to the bathroom to freshen up, I'm ready to landing!

Now that everyone is waking up & the lights are on, I can open the shade to take some more pictures. Oh, there's Mount Fuji!! Cool!! JAPAN HERE I COME!!
