So we finally have a real travel day. It went off with no problems. The Martin family picked us up at the airport and we headed straight for Yellowstone. Evidently Cheney was here because Air Force 2 was at the airport. First went to the Grand Teton Mountains. Very pretty! We saw a heard of buffalo roaming. We then headed to Yellowstone for about an hour drive. What a pretty drive though. Yellowstone is beautiful! Like so many other places we’ve been too picture don’t do it justice. Hard to believe that John D it Rockefeller purchased the land and donated it to the US. WOW! Also, so sad what the 1988 fire did. It was 20 years ago and you can still see where the forest is trying to coming back. The air is really dry and thin. We got little headaches but nothing a Sudafed didn’t take care of. We stopped at a lot of springs, waterfalls and such then got to Old Faithful. Very cool!! Again, you have to see it. It lived up to its name and went off at 2:30. Yes, every 1 and ½ hours! We checked out the Old Faithful Inn. It’s a true log cabin inn built in the 1920’s. Beautiful inside! We then headed to all the geysers. AMAZING!!! Water is boiling up from the ground at 190 degrees. It has sulpher and acids that blend into incredible colors. The water looks like Caribbean blue beach water. Like you can jump in for a refreshing dip. Oh no! You can feel the heat standing next to them. It demonstrates how the Earth is just the perfect environment for us to survive in but it truly a dangerous ball of fire. We headed to West Yellowstone. On the way we saw a bunch of animals. Throughout the day we saw antelope, buffalo, coyote and even a bald eagle! It’s funny because all the cars pull over to look at the animals. They aren’t scared or anything. It’s almost like they are posing for pictures. They are like rock stars here! When you see traffic backing up ahead of you… well, you know you’re about to see something cool! We went to the bear of wolf refuge to see some bears. Probably the only way we wanted to see bears in Yellowstone. HA! We had a long day and headed back. We’re going to have to see the Grand Canyon on another day. We all were incredibly tired. Great day though!!!
