I wound up in Great Barrington and found a nice little motel there run by an Indian family. Next morning, I drove up the road to a little town called Stockbridge. I had a long chat with the local historian. She was aware of Stockbridge, Hampshire but couldn't trace any definite links back there. Lovely little place. Norman Rockwell lived and painted there the last 25 years of his life.
