To me it seems like the best travel days are the unplanned ones. Today I went Shopping with Jesus (and i got a great pair of sandals cheap!) This is Jeromy and he is an aide worker from Israel.  Today me and Jeromy and another travelor here at the backpackers hostel headed down to the Owina market which is the largest market in town.  As soon as we headed into the market people started calling out "Jesus"  "look its Jesus".   As we walked through the market  we could hear the people calling out

to the stalls ahead of us telling them "jesus was coming".  everyone wanted to chat about "jesus" and kept asking questions to which I just answered " I just walk in the footsteps of Jesus".  Jeromy warned us this might happen as he is used to it.  To make things more interesting Jeromy also knows some hebrew prayers and blessings and can really play the part well to get the people excited.  Before long we had a pretty good crowd of people hanging around us while Jeromy was giving blessings,,, calling for world peace,,,chanting and dancing.  ( it was so funny I almost peed my pants).   .

Got some great pictures of everything. Again I must say that the people of Uganda are great.  I feel Very safe here at all times. I really wished today that I had a video camera so i could get some footage of riding through rush hour traffic on a Boda Boda (motorcycle taxi).  These guys are truly incredible.  Here at the hostel they have brochures printed by the gov't warning people about the hazards of riding the Boda Boda's......  hazards include

  • going through red lights (done that)
  • going the wrong way down the road (yep did that too)
  • using the sidewalk or road islands (done it)
  • erratic weaving between vehicles  (oh yeah)
  • complete disregard for others  (yep)
I have learned that you can be assured every vehicle in East Africa will have at least two things that work.... an accelerator and a horn.
