The falls in Brazil yesterday were pretty impressive, but from what i'd already heard they were nothing compared with the Argentinian side, so I was keen to see if it was true.

And at least it was a lot earier to get to, a quick hop on the bus down the road. The entrance looked like a cross between a border checkpoint and Jurrasic Park again, with big flags and park rangers everywhere.

Even though it was only about 11am, the sun was already so strong that I knew I'd get fried without a hat, so I had to bite my tourist tongue and cough up for the least touristy bucket hat they had on offer, that wasn't covered in pictures of toucans and parrots.

I took someone's advice and started the walk at the low circuit, which wound down and around the baseof some of the falls.

You can then take a free boat across the the central island for more views, and I saw lizards scurrying around and condors circling and perching on rocks.  The spray from the falls comes over you, and forms rainbows form every angle you look at it.

The second walk is the upper circuit, a flat walkway along the top of the main row of waterfalls which didn't take long to see.

But they'd saved the best till last - El Garganta del Diablo (the Devil's Mouth). You trundle through the jungle on a little train as far as you can, then a series of walkways over the rivers that eventually cascade into the canyon below.

You can hear the roar before you see it. And then you can catch a glimpse of the edge, and as you get closer you can look right down into the mouth. You can't actually see all the way to the bottom because of the amount of spray and the sun shining through it.
