Greetings from Trapani. We are staying in the region for 6 days to do several day trips, to the Egadi Islands, the midevil city of Erice (the mountain of God), Reserve De Zingaro, and the beach town of San Vito La Capo. Trapani is a port town of cute shops and cafes on a peninsula. It is surrounded by the ocean on 3 sides. We arrived just in time for the Cous Cous Festival. Local restaurants set up booths with their best receipes of Cous Cous. What does one do during a cous cous festival you ask, well, eat cous cous and talk to the Italians of course. At night there are an abundance of outside open air concerts all over old town to help celebrate the festival. Erice, of course at the top of the mountain is an old midevil city as well and surrounded by walls. Its called the mountain of God. Erected around 1312 AD, the church and bell tower and most of the town have been preserved. The streets are very narrow, or I am getting wider, and made from big pebbles. Luckily there was a funicular to take you to the top of the mountain and bring you down to avoid another hike! San Vito Lo Capo originally an old fishing village lies on the northwest coast of Sicily. The streets are narrow and criss cross with white houses, jasmine and bougainvillea. The sand is pure white and the sky is an intense blue. Its a hip town full of cafes and beach hangouts. Its at the door step of the Nature Reserve of Zingaro, one of he most well preserved landscapes in the Mediterranean. Please enjoy some pictures
