Our last real stop in Romania was in Sighisoara, fortified citadel and birthplace of Vlad Tepes (aka Vlad the Impaler; primary origin of the legend Dracula).

On our arrival at the hostel we were met by an extremely foul mooded hostess, who proceeded to place us in a 12 bed dorm, despite us booking a (more expensive) 10 bed dorm. When we raised this, she shouted "oh, what's the f**ckn difference" and stormed off. It was one of those moment that really makes you ready for a good time.

We spent the afternoon walking around the citadel. We visited the clock tower and walked around to all of the towers (bakers tower, tailors tower, etc). We also took some photos of Vlad Tepes's birthplace, now a restaurant. The entire citadel is very pretty and, despite needing to watch your pockets around the Roma, very safe.

It was just by chance that Sighisoara happened to be celebrating its Ethnic Festival, so we sat down with some beers and watched the show. It basically consisted of traditional dancing and singing. It was unfortunate (and somewhat ironic) that despite being an Ethnic Festival, the master of ceremonies only spoke in Romanian. It's worth noting that every traditional Romanian song uses one line of "la la la-la-la" for every three lines of actual singing. If someone can explain why this is, it would be greatly appreciated.

The next day we caught a train and headed down to Otopeni (just outside Bucharest) where we stayed overnight and caught the plane early in the morning (up at 4am!) to Moscow.
