Search for food....
From My Study Abroad in England in Jausiers, France on Dec 15 '07
Today we slept in. I did not even bat an eye until around 11am. I stayed in bed until about 12/ 12:30pm. When I got up, I walked out into the living room area and looked out the window to the most amazing view. Snow covered French Alps filled the window. It was amazing. There was not really anything to do so I sat in the living room, looked through my stuff, and read some information about the area.
We didn’t have any food at all. I had some tea that I brought with me so I boiled some water and made tea for everyone. Kyle went out for a walk about 1 and said he’d come back by 2pm so we could go find some food. I woke Josie up at 1:30 so she could get up and get ready. I was really hungry by this point.
Luckily, the lady said she would feed us.
When we go into the town we barely saw anyone. We didn’t see any stores that were open and not too many people walking around. In Barcelonnette we found a gas station and Margeaux asked where we could get food. They sent us more into the town. We found a ski supplies store that was open and he gave us directions to a café that was still open. Luckily, the lady said she would feed us. I ordered a quish with salad and frites. It was good. We also each ordered a café ole. This tasted delicious.
After lunch we came back to the resort, listened to music, and played cards. We did a couple sudoku races and just relaxed. Also watched some TV and read books. It was relaxing just to hang out and not have anything to do. Ramsey, Josie, Kyle and I started playing a game of hearts. We had to stop because we didn’t want to miss dinner tonight. We went down to town and found a different place to eat.
It was a little bar that also served food. I ordered a steak hashe, which ended up being a burger without the bun with a side of salad and frites. I just smothered it with ketchup, mayo and mustard and ate it. It was okay, a little too pink for my tastes, but tasty. We watched some football game on the tvs. For dessert I has a single scoop of mint chocolate ice cream. This was a different mint though, it really tasted like peppermint; really strong peppermint.
After we ate we played a game of pool in the back room. There wasn’t a cue so we had to use a red ball that looked kinda scratched up. After that we left and walked back through the town. I took a picture next to the lamp pole all dressed up in my warm clothes. When we got back we finished our game of hearts and then everyone found something to do.
