Hot Hot City
From NYC in New York City, United States on Oct 05 '07
The next morning we woke up mid-afternoon, ate some breakfast, and hopped on a train to Manhattan. The city was hot and crowded. Scott and I both were pretty confused about where we were so we hailed a cab to get to our hotel. There was some Asian parade and the traffic was pretty sluggish. After passing the parade we quickly zoomed down the avenues passing people and cars, really tall buildings, veered up a land bridge squeezing between two giant skyscrapers before dropping down into a sea of taxis stopping in front of our hotel.

The room was fabulous as was the rest of the hotel. We dropped off our stuff and headed to Central Park. We walked around a bit before deciding to head to Whole Foods for some lunch. After buying a couple of salads and some drinks we walked back to the park into a huge grassy opening filled with people lounging, flying Frisbees, and lots of laughs and chatter. At one time there would be about fifty to a hundred Frisbees whirling through the air. We lounged for a bit and headed back to the hotel.
Through the night of people and skycrapers
Later that night we met up with Scott's family and his friend Darling who lives in Brooklyn. Darling chose a French restaurant we would all like and we walked through the night of people and skyscrapers. After dinner we headed to a bar, drank some beer, and watched a boxing match. Scott's sister was getting drunk which meant it was time for our departure. We walked with Darling down to a hot and muggy subway coated with dirt and litter. We headed to Brooklyn and met up with Jake, Darling's boyfriend, and drove to a local bar. We chatted, took shots of Tequila, drank beer, and smoked cigarettes on a beautiful back patio. It was warm, I was drunk, and the night was perfect.
