Oct 30th: We took the train to Kamakura, home of the 2nd largest Buddha in Japan.  We paid twice the required amount for the train b/c of the language barrier.  Kamakura is such a neat place!  We immediately found the shopping district...a narrow walking street.  We ate lunch at a sushi restaurant that had 3 pictures of food to choose from...though we're not too sure what we ate!  Thank goodness it was delicious since it was a $60 lunch!  :)

In Kamakura, we visited the Hase-Dera Temple & the Great Buddha (see pictures).  Both were flooded with Japanese tourists as Kamakura is a big tourist site...both amazing!

Back in Yokosuka, we met two of Phil's co-workers (James & Jim) out for very authentic yakatori (meat on a stick).  We took our shoes off and sat on the floor to eat...pretty funny to see 3 big guys try to sit comfortably in such tight quarters.  The food was great!  Before and after dinner, James took us to the well-known yakatori stand in an alley for appetizers and dessert...we opted for the chicken and pork for 60 yen (5 cents) each, but the other options were pork heart, pork intestines, etc.

Just had lunch at a restaurant that we don't know the name of...and don't know what we ate.

Oct 31st:  After attending the housing brief, we called several realty companies to start the house-hunting process.   We decided to head to Yokohama for the day.  I love Yokohama!!!  Across the street from the train station are several huge malls (8 floors)...Starbucks, Tiffany & Co, designer everything, unbelievable grocery stores (think Whole Foods but better), etc.   By the time we were done walking around the mall and a few street blocks, our feet hurt and we were tired, so we headed back to Yokosuka.   We ordered a pizza, watched a few "Heroes" episodes, and called it a night.

Thank goodness for pictures...

That's it for now!

Japanese word for now:  "Hai" (pronounced 'hi') means "yes"
