If you've never been to New York its time that you come.  The hustle and bustle truly gives you the feeling that the city never sleeps.  The underground world of the subways system is the most extensive and elaborate transportation  in the world.  There are a plethora of museums to visit, sky scrappers to gawk at and free events all year long.  Between central park (which in my opinion is the most cultural and exciting park in the world), Rockerfeller Center, Lincoln Center, Bryant Park and others there is always a free concert, event or festival going on.  Tour buses in lower Manhattan take you past the New York Stock Exchange and the exact place where George Washington was inaugurated as our first president.  Theres the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Broadway and so many other places I'm not gonna even bother.  All I can say is that if you have not been to New York then you should already know where your next vacation is going to be.
