Third day of Rehearsal
From My Chance to play at Carnegie Hall in New York City, United States on May 23 '07
Today was our third day of rehearsal. We had the opportunity to rehearse Slalom with the composer Carter Pann. It was really enlightening to be able to have the composer explaining his piece and getting a new feel for what he had originally intended. It was also interesting for the conductor to have a different interpretation of the piece and bring it to a new light even for the composer. I love how music can mean so many things to so many people. I love the feeling of creation and synergy with an ensemble of this caliber. It's so incredible. I can't wait to play with this group in the hall! It's going to be spectacular!
After rehearsal, Elise and I went up in the Empire State Building. It wasn't nearly as impressive as I had expected, but it was still really cool. Especially as far as cultural significance is concerned!

Then we ran to meet Becky so that we could catch Dizzy Gillepsie's All Star Big Band with Slide Hampton at the Blue Note. Oh My Goodness. It was phenomenal!!!! The music was spectacular and I was soooo close to the band I felt almost a part of it! I also had a chance to take a picture with the bass trombone player. Who was there on his off-night being in the pit with Wicked. It was amazing!
