Saturday was finally a beautiful day in London and it was just in time for the Tour de France.  Yes, I know we are in England, but the Tour de France began in London this year and we decided to go and check it out.  It was really cool to see.

It was the Prologue on Saturday which meant individual time trials.  Each cyclist left the starting block one minute after the other - all 189 of them.  The course was 8 km and took about 9 minutes to complete, so needless to say it was a long day.  We took a picnic and sat in the park watching the cyclists go by.  Thankfully where we sat in Hyde Park had a jumbotron so we knew what was going on and we didn't need to stand at the barrier the whole time.

The speed the cyclists passed by was amazing.  Trying to get a picture of them was comical to say the least, but it was a really great day.

The winner of the day took 8 minutes and 50 seconds - he beat the next closest by about 13 seconds - lightening fast!

It was Patrick's birthday weekend and we had a great time.  What a cool way to spend your birthday, watching the tour de france!
