Ouro Preto is just 6 hours north of Rio De Janeiro by bus. It is an old mining town that sits like a hidden gem amongst rolling green hills. I was so awestruck by the beauty of the colonial churches, the narrow cobblestone streets, and the lush mountains that I´ve imprinted the image in my mind forever.

Now most of you know, that i´m never the type to get all girly about planning weddings and what not. Up until a few days ago, I was content with the idea of just eloping one day and getting married somewhere random. But a´las I have found my destination. I couldn´t imagine how amazing it would be to marry in one of the old churches....followed by a white tent reception on one of the many green hills overlooking the gorgeous village. Subtle samba dresses for the ladies, authentic cuisine, latin music (w/some 80´s classics thrown in too), and wine from Peru would make my wedding unforgettable. You better believe the Bach parties would be in Rio!!! Now i just have to worry about two things. Money, to fly my family and friends out. Groom, well because it wouldn´t be a boda without one! Haha...details details. Those of you thinking i´m nuts, wont think so when i get you out to Brazil for the most amazing vacay of your life! :)

Besides my future wedding to my nonexistant fiance...Ouro Preto offers a cultural historical experience. Less than 4 km away is Mariana. You can go 120 meters into the earth to explore an old mine that ends in a crystal clear lagoon. Learn about slavery and do some adventure stuff like rappelling or zip lining. We tried to go zip lining but it was closed. Next time. Great place! I can´t wait for all of you to see it one day...oh and rest assured you will ;)
