Friday and Monday we went to Matakana Island.  We were lucky because we were the only ISV group of the summer to get the opportunity to go here.  We traveled over by a ferry that takes logging trucks, cars and people across the lake.  It is a private island and one of the men who owns part of us meet us in the beginning.  We just walked along the beach picking Australian Tea Trees.  They release a toxic chemical that kills the dune grass.  Without the grass, the sand dunes are wiped out during high tide.  Eventually, the whole island could we ruined.  This is a huge problem because Matakana protects Tauranga.  Although it is winter, the weather was beautiful.  Our view was absolutely gorgeous.

Work Monday was even easier, we just finished what was left from Friday.  The vans could not drive back so we went for about an hour walk through the woods which was fun.  Our work is finishing up, I cannot believe how fast the last week has gone.
