Day 7 - (Longtown to Glasgow)

Our intrepid travellers awake in the border country. The Scots' members eager to cross into the "home territory", Ally muttering something about Edward Longshanks.

Gareth gives detailed directions to the border which are ignored at the very first turn by Ally. Given the signposts were for Gretna, it appears they were not born romantics.

The border is crossed with many photos taken.

The A74 is followed to Abingdon where news reaches that the "Sunday Herald" a Glasgow broadsheet want to send a photographer to the finish in John 'O' Groats on Saturday afternoon. Botox appointments were booked for Saturday morning. Findlay makes a hair appointment. He orders some.

Progress is hampered by the road surface, worse than the shuttle landings, and with 6 year olds hurling bricks and abuse at us in South Lanarkshire.

We wave cheers to Gareth who has admirably met our needs over the 2 days from Preston where a ceremonial handover is performed at Findlay's sisters house in Hamilton.

We end the day back in the bosoms of our loved ones and our own beds. Ade had earlier promised to welcome us but apparently had a new moisturiser to try, so was a no shout.

PS Malt loaf scoffed 74 pieces, road kill encountered 837
