After leaving San Jose at 6am, i arrived at La Fortuna at lunchtime. the bus journey, was amazing, we went through the mountains and through lots of quaint little villages. Once the moutains stopped, the volcanoes started and i had a good view of Arenal. La Fortuna is a nice little town, and the hostel is v good- free internet when it works, hot showers when it works, and a swimming pool!!

I decided to go shopping for gifts, as i thought it was about time i stopped buying stuff for myself- i have not idea how they are going to fit them into my already overflowing rucksack, but ill sort that out tomorrow!

in the afternoon, the clouds came over, like it does every afternoon so i could no longer see the volcano, but i still went on my hiking tour- by this time there was a torrential thunderstorm. we walked in the rainforest for a couple of hours and as per the norm, i saw nothing except insects and trees! After the walk, we drove to the west side of the volcano and waiting for the sun to set so we could see the lava flowing down the hillside, it was awesome but i couldnt take any pics as it was too far away.

afterwards, we went to the tabacon hot springs where we swam in the river, it was forty sometimes degrees. a nice way to welcome back hot water after two months. at the spa resort we had an all u can eat buffet so we enjoyed the good food and atmo and thought we would perhaps skip breakfast!!

All in all a an awesome day.
