Maharashtra – Matheran

Day 109-111 Maharashtra – Matheran
This is a hill station which rests atop the Sahyadris Mountainsamid a shady Jambol forest. Walking tracks lead to breathtaking lookouts that drop sheer to the plains. It's a really tranquil place because there's a ban on motor vehicles and bicycles. So you make your way round on foot, horse or catrs that are pulled by men. To get here we got on a toy train that was exactly that. It was so small and looked like something out of Thomas the Tank Engine. We basically chilled for a couple of days as it was baking during the day, so all the trekking was done at the crack of dawn or in the evening. The trails were so peaceful and the lookout points were stunning. Definitely a great escape from the city life.
