After a long flight, we finally arrived in Dubrovnik. We were here in 2004 and took the ferry over. This time we flew over, and I wish my camera had not been in the overhead bin, as the scenery was absolutely breathe taking. We had rented an apartment in old town, which is only 115 steps straight up. Trust me when I say that it was not fun hauling the luggage up!! I no longer feel guilty about indulging in pizza and gelato while I am here!! The old town is absolutely gorgeous. It has marble streets that shine from being walked on everyday. You can climb the walls of the city for an amazing view of the sea and the town. It is an absolutely wonderful place to just sit, have a drink and people watch as people from all over the world stroll by. We arrived just in time for the beginning of the summer festival (last time, we were here for the closing ceremonies). We were treated to an outdoor concert in the square and an incredible fireworks display in the harbor. Another most do, is taking the walk up on the walls of old town.  You get amazing views of old town and the sea.
