Ok, so I drove to Halle right after leaving Dessau, and they are very close so it wasn't hard to actually find the city, but to actually find the "historic" sights was another matter. For such a sized town, it had big roads here, highways there, and it took me quite a while until I figured out where I was on the map. So after having to reverse out of small cobblestoned alleys way too many times, I finally found a big underground parking deck and just decided to get out and hoof it. After getting the help of a businessman who had learned english on his travels to the UK, I figured out the way to pay for the parking (nothing to make you feel inept like traveling abroad and not knowing their parking-garage systems). I cam up out of the garage right into the center of the old town where I wanted to be.

I got to visit the few churches in the center, but didn't make the Salt- museum (Halle-also called Salle, was a big center of salt mining for many centuries). They are also known for their Halloran chocolates. So after treating myself to a soft-serve ice cream, I got back into the car and tried to leave Hall, only to find myself driving in Halle-Neustadt, which is avenue after avenue of big panel-buildings from the DDR. Wrong way! So I turned around, went back to Leipzig, had a swim and a sauna (!!) and met Jack for dinner at 7:30. Ahhhhhh....
