Seeing as we are going to be living in Cork we thought we should go and see it's main tourist attrition - Blarney Castle.
We were debating whether or not we should go because dark clouds had appeared, but as soon as we got off the bus it was all sun. We strolled up to the castle and made our way though all the people (not as many as we thought their might be for a Friday afternoon). After queuing up the spiral staircases in the castle we made it up onto the battlements where the wind reminded us of home. Rose emptied her pockets and prepared for kissing the stone (on our way in we saw a guy loose his discman over the edge while kissing the stone). It wasn't at all scary; they've put in several rails to stop you going anywhere if you slip. After Rose kissed the stone we made our way down through the castle visiting all the rooms on the way.

Blarney House is just a few minutes walk from Blarney Castle, they do tours but we didn't want to hang round for 1/2hour for the next one to start so we went for a wander in the Rock Close. The rock close has an old druids circle and a dolmen, which when Rose tired to photograph the battery died.
After visiting the castle and gardens we had fish & chips in the Blarney town green.
