The Barcelo chapel
Palma Cathedral, well known as La Seu, contains a great work of art by the contemporary painter and sculptor, Miquel Barcelo. This is the reformation of the Saint Peter's chapel, situated in the right hand side apse at the head of the Gothic temple. The chapel was officially opned by the King in February 2007.
We have all had the experience of hearing a song or piece of music which we 'cannot get out of our head" .. we keep singing or humming it for days. I have had a similar experience with this exceptional work of art ; I keep seeing the image of this remarkable place. It is combination of architecture, ceramics. and design which is outstanding. it is based on the miracle of the loaves and fishes which relates on several levels to this island which is so closely linked to the sea. Its warm colours simply glow .. perhaps the artist tried to restrain this a bit with the use of grey stained glass windows.

From a distance, it almost looked like a tapestry. On closer inspection, I was amazed to find that this was a inner wall of clay ... and yet it looks so light that it is almost impossible to believe that you are looking at tons of baked clay.
