We were back in Livingstone at last. So we settled back into the hotel and generally lazed about. We went to the falls a few more times, seeing it at various stages of flood. The water was really brown now and it was a very wet experience. In fact, one day as we made our way past the David Livingstone statue we passed a group of Japanese tourists, who'd clearly just arrived and hadn't seen the falls yet. They looked in horror at our drenched bedraggled state. The guide asked - "is it very wet?" "Yes" we cheerfully answered and the whole group looked very worried. Wonder if they braved it.

We passed the next few days quietly, having dinner together on New Year's Eve, which was a bit strained. The next day Dee and I had dinner together and Cathal ate with his Dad. A day or two later we went to Livingstone Island again with Dee. We had high tea again but this time we swam at the edge of the falls! It was amazing. The current was incredibly strong swimming across to the little pond and you had to hold on tight to the rocks otherwise the current lifted you up and it was a bit hairy. Also there were little fish biting our toes!

It was crazy being on the edge of the falls though, such a rush
