If I'd been a little more creative I'd have better titles for these journal entries. Instead of just putting the name of the town I could have had ' Sharks at Surin' or something . Still,I'll be consistent and stick with it.

I took the train from Kanchanaburi . I got the ' standard' that stops at every little station on route. Some of them were just  shelters with no sign of even a village. Many stations had some well cared for plants and with their painted wooden slatted buildings of cream and brown they looked a little like rural English Village stations. No signs of graffitti here though . In fact I haven't seen any on my travels . I don't know what it tells you about us Brits , but it doesn't make you feel good.

I arrived here quite late but I had a walk around before retiring. It's very much a tourist resort with every shop catering to the trade , whether it be over priced Western food , tour operators , tailors or bars. I know many people like this kind of place but I think it lacks any kind of  charm and could be any beach in the world really.

The big surprise this morning was when I was off to find a cup of coffee when I bumped into Harry and Elanore. I'd met them in Pankor , Malaysia way back in February. It was great to see them again and to catch up. As I wasn't too impressed with my lodgings , I've moved to the same one they're in which has a lot more character (and is cheaper too) and some unusual alfresco toilets

We had a stroll along the long sandy beach and I suppose that must be one of the attractions for families. Its pleasant enough with room for everyone. We went for one of Harrys favourites - an ABC . Basically it's ice shavings with a sauce and various other extras -  like fruit , jelly or sweetcorn.Very nice they are too and sold by street vendors for about 15p.

They're getting a stage ready for a festival but will miss it as I'm off to Chumpon tommorrow.
