Mountains again!

The town of Pelling consists mostly of hotels and not much else, but that is not why people go there! I spent two days or so there and from there was driven around some of the surrounding hills and mountains and along the river valleys. The scenery is stunning - deep valleys with fast-flowing mountain rivers (and this is in the 'dry' season) and steep hillsides, terraced for rice or maize.
After rain and cloud had prevented us from seeing the true beauty of Sikkim, our final afternoon and the following morning made up for it. After heavy rainfall and thunderstorms the clouds finally parted to reveal Narsing looming, appearing almost close enough to touch, and the following morning Kanchenjunga joined its neighbours in revealing itself in all its sparkling white glory in the morning sunshine. Pelling is between Tiger Hill/Darjeeling and the Kanchenjunga range so the panorama is not as long and Everest/Lhotse/Makalu are hidden, but the proximity to the snow-capped HImalayan peaks is totally stunning!
If I go back to Sikkim it will be to trek and get closer to these beautiful mountains......!!
