Another 8 am start.
Today heading towards Lake Powell and Bryce Canyon, by way of the painted desert.
Amazing colours of the solidified sand. Then climb up to the spectaculat Paraia Plateau. Stop for photos and the obligatory Navajo Indians selling artefacts. Arriving at Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam it is clear that the water levels are very low.
Todays lunch stop was Kanab, a once famous base for making western movies. Because it was Sunday most places were shut so we ended up with sandwhiches from the local petrol station. As it turned out we had a very pleasant picnic. Some very friendly people and a small museum dedicated to the movies containing some famous pieces of film sets. Its free and worth a visit.

After lunch we make our way to Bryce Canyon.
We arrive late afternoon and the sight is amazing. Not as vast as the Grand Canyon but stunning spires of red rock that constantly change colour in the setting sun. We took a 1 mile walk around part of the canyon from Inspiration point thro' Sunset Point to Sunrise Point. Absolutely stunning and frightening because there is absolutely nothing to stop you slipping over the edge. We make a brief visit to Fairyland Point and then on to Best estern Ruby's Inn.

Quite a complex built up from an early lodging house to cater for early visitors to Bryce Canyon. Very good dinner and a chance to copy photos to CD. 6 internet PC's in the lobby with a range of interesting shops and a Diner. Nice place
