We arrived in Locarno a little bit behind schedule due to the train issue in Zurich. We wandered around the town for a while amazed at the palm trees, the lush forest covered mountains surrounding us, and the beautiful lake.

Everyone back in Baden was saying how terrible the weather was supposed to be so I wore pants but it turned out to be absolutely gorgeous. I was sweating like crazy walking around town. We couldn't check into our hotel until 14:00 so I was cooking for a while. They have wonderful pathways down by the water and we walked around for a while. Walked past huge trees, beautiful boats, and of course beautiful women (the highlight of any trip).

When we reached the end of what we thought was going to be the really interesting parts we would turn around and meander back through the town soaking in the Italian-Swiss cultural mixture. On one such meander we found an ancient church that must be smaller than my house back in Calgary. Except my house in Calgary doesn't have a tall bell tower. We of course explored the church, it was very very small but still seemed to have wonderful art on the walls and ceiling. It felt very much like I was in the DaVinci Code. I have a feeling that I'm going to get a lot of that over the next year.

A nice tree and park they had along the lake in Locarno.

After that meander we made our way back to the hostel for our room. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of our room! It was a three person private room, which was perfect for our party of three. It was very clean and tidy and would serve wonderfully for the night. After a quick change we went over to the underground train station in Locarno bound for Ponte Brolla.
