Wow!! We loved Gimmelwald: a tiny alpine village, situated 1400 m above sea level, facing the Jungfrau, Eiger, and the Monch, 3 towering snowy peaks in the Swiss Alps. We arrived by cable car from the valley floor in the Interlaken region. We planned on staying 3 nights and ended up staying 4 in Esther’s guesthouse. One of the highlights, other than the breathtaking outdoors, were sharing the evening and common kitchen with the other house guests, sharing travel stories and enjoying Esther’s homemade, organic yoghurt and bread. During the glorious days we went mountain biking and hiking. One of our hikes was 3 hours up a very steep path (the local guy had made it sound much easier when recommending the hike!) up to a plateau which brought us to a commanding view of the mountain range and the valley floor below. Awesome! The leaves were changing colour, the mountain air was so fresh and crisp. This made our visit to Gimmelwald so sweet. Reminded us of home! We won’t forget waking up in the morning to the faint sound of cow bells as they grazed on the steep slopes of the village. We highly recommend this unique and lovely place.

Ah... the faint sound of cow bells as they grazed on the steep slopes of the village!

Hi guys! I finally caught up to where you are caught up to! Love the pics. I can't wait to see the "REST" of the trip. Whenever you get a round to updating, and then whenever I get around to looking! LOL!! It's OK to be WEIRD!
