Don't drink the water
From Ireland Term 2007 in Galway, Ireland on Apr 02 '07
Whoo hoo! Today we saw the Cliffs of Mohr. The cliffs are very tall and there aren't a lot of guard rails so you have to be careful. But they are also very beautiful. Walking one them felt sort of like climbing on the great wall of china; mainly it made me feel small. But, the best part was, when Mal and i shimmied over to the edge and laid there gazing down into the rocky turquoise striped waters below, nothing else mattered. No grades, no grad school, no future, and no problems. It was just the water and the steep jagged rocks. I felt completely free from the repetitious list of thoughts in my mind for once.
We also saw the world's largest dolmen (an ancient burial site that has two large rocks with the large slab placed horizontally across them). Sort of an anticlimax.
But we finally arrived in Galway only to find that there was a boil order placed on the city and we can't drink the water. Luckily the hotel has given us bottled water so we can brush our teeth and we have a hot pot so we can boil water.
Other things include the fact that i am starting to feel very comfortable with this group of people. I'm not saying that i am best friends with everyone but i appreciate the company of everyone here and i like the mixture of our group. We definitely have a dynamic and i laugh all the time because crazy things happen here. I also love Galway so far. I haven't seen much but the bay looks beautiful and the town looks comfortable yet not as urban as we have been in.
We are in Galway for 3 weeks so i will keep updating. This weekend is Easter, which should be cool, but we also have a killer art history midterm, a paper, and tons fo reading to do for next week.
